Teeth Extraction in Coquitlam

Unfortunately, there are times when there is no choice but to remove a tooth for your overall dental health. This can happen in cases of excessive tooth decay or when a tooth infection has severely infected the whole tooth. Wisdom teeth removal is common for teenagers because new teeth can cause overcrowding or simply form badly. Our clinic offers tooth extractions and wisdom tooth extractions in Coquitlam.

Does a Tooth Extraction Hurt?

A tooth extraction is a relatively quick procedure that is performed under a local anesthetic. This helps to numb the area around the tooth so you will feel very little pain. If you feel nervous or anxious, ask our dentist about conscious sedation to help you relax. Your dentist will also discuss over-the-counter painkillers to manage your pain.

How Long Is Recovery Time After an Extraction?

It only takes a few days to recover from a tooth extraction. After the procedure, your dentist may recommend placing an ice pack on your cheek to reduce the swelling. You should also keep the gauze in place on your gum for a few hours and bite down to reduce the bleeding. Also, limit physical activity to prevent further bleeding.
