Lumineers in CGS Dental
Lumineers are cosmetic shells that are a type of veneer. Like veneers, they are used to cover discoloured and broken teeth and must be replaced after some time. Lumineers offer several advantages over veneers; they are easy to prepare, they are thinner than traditional veneers and the cost is less expensive than traditional veneers.
When We Use Veneers
Veneers offer the benefit of being much thicker than Lumineers, so they hide stains well. If you are looking to cover severely discoloured teeth, veneers are a better option. However, the process to affix a veneer to the tooth is much more intensive, with the teeth needing to be ground down to accommodate the veneer. Veneers can last between 10 to 15 years, after which time they must be replaced.
When We Use Lumineers
Lumineers are a less expensive solution to cover broken teeth, but because they are more translucent than veneers, they don’t work well with severely discoloured teeth. When you fit Lumineers, tooth grinding is not needed and there is less damage to the teeth as a result of the Lumineer bonding process. Lumineers can last just as long as veneers, but they are semi-permanent and can be easily removed.
